This aromatic plant goes well with the tomatoes on your plate, and it turns out that the basilisks have similar needs in terms of conservation.

Just like tomatoes, basil loves heat. So spending days in a cold environment like a refrigerator causes it to fade prematurely.

The basil will do best if stored on your work surface, and treated as you would with freshly cut flowers. A fresh bouquet of this condiment can be stored in a glass of water (to be changed every 24 or 48 hours), away from direct sunlight.

Covering the bouquet (loosely) with a plastic bag will help keep it moist, but make sure the bag has an opening to allow fresh air to infiltrate.
