One of the signs of aging is the weakness of eyesight. We all somehow fear that day when our eyesight gets worse and fades away. Still, we have several nutrients we can regularly consume to reduce the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration, two very common eye disorders.

Some of these important nutrients that would help counteract some of the degenerative processes that can affect our eyes are Lutein and Zeaxanthin. The latter are very powerful antioxidants that tend to build up in the retina of the eye.

Lutein and Zeaxanthin can be largely found in egg yolks. So, eating just one to three egg yolks a day for about four to five weeks will increase blood levels of Lutein with a percentage of 28% to 50% and about 114 to 142 of Zeaxanthin.

Eggs can also offer you much more than that. They contain a high and rich amount of Vitamin A. It’s important to note that Vitamin A deficiency is the most common cause of blindness in the entire world.
