#1 – Chesapeake Killer
Michael Funk was eaten alive on September 11, 2016, by Vibrio vulnificus, a flesh-eating bacteria that are known to grow in larger numbers in warm coastal waters with low salinity. It was said that Funk died only four days after cleaning crab pots in the Chesapeake Bay.
Funk was suffering from a severe and unbearable pain in his legs. So, when he was examined at the hospital, doctors couldn’t do anything to save the man’s life as the disease spread to his bloodstream.
It’s true that the doctors tried to take away the dead tissue but in his case, it was just useless. Doctors said that he must have got the disease from a cut he used to have on his leg. Imagine that in the United States there are 85,000 terrifying similar cases that are reported every year.
