#3 – Sepsis’s Second Act
John Middleditch was diagnosed with sepsis in 2012. At the very beginning, he thought that he caught flu but when his health condition started to worsen and his internal organs failed, he knows that there is something wrong. When Middleditch was examined, the results were far dangerous from what he first expected.
Since all his limbs changed their color to black and were filled with fluid, the doctors had to amputate his both arms and legs. Despite all this, John survived and was fitted with prosthetic limbs.
However, the disease knocked at his door one more time after four years and took his life. Sadly, not only Middleditch but about 44000 people die each and every year because of this disease in the UK. This blood poisoning disease is more common than cancer and heart attacks.
