#7 – The Cold-Hearted “Cry(o)-”!
The Greek word “cry(o)-” means “cold”, and its meaning runs really deep. A perfect example is a cryoablation, which involves using extreme cold to freeze and destroy tissue (which is diseased, of course, like the case of cancer cells) for the patient’s benefit, reducing potential risk and minimizing discomfort.
Cryoablation is also used to treat irregular heartbeat by inserting a tiny soldering iron to cauterize the cells that disrupt the normal rhythm of the heart using extreme cold instead of heat.
