There is no clear cut study that proves that eating too much fruit can cause type 2 diabetes. While no one can deny that fruit does contain sugar that is unlikely to be harmful as part of a moderate and balanced diet.
However, eating too much sugar can lead to weight gain, which eventually leads to higher blood sugar levels and prediabetes. It’s true that fruits contain essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber, but they also contain higher amounts of natural sugar that can be harmful if taken with an unbalanced diet.
The fruit is a healthier alternative but when overconsumed as part of a diet that is high in sugar, refined carbohydrates, and saturated fats, it can increase your chances of developing type 2 diabetes. Hence, it’s always wise to limit your fruit intake and consume more of it moderately and in wise portions.
