If you bought or inherited some vintage items such as cribs, painted toys, and toy chest, highchairs or bassinets, there’s a slight chance that they may have some form of finish that contains lead, as lead paint was extremely popular before 1978. If you really cherish those items, or if you live in an older home, you should have its paint tested for lead. For more information about the process, call the National Lead Information Center.
