Air fresheners play a great part in creating a pleasing indoor space. They’re designed to either impart a specific odor into the air or mask an existing one. But, there are concerns that these products might have an impact on the increase of indoor air pollution, as they release VOCs into the air.

According to a study made by Anne Steinemann and published in 2017, air freshener fabricants omit more than 90% of its compounds to the public, a fact that should be of concern as they are commonly associated with migraine headaches, asthma, mucosal symptoms, infant illness, and breathing difficulties.

You should just avoid the use of air fresheners on a daily basis, as their long-term effects remain unknown. Just open your windows or use a natural air freshener.
