The reports are quite shocking, but the Consumer Product Safety Commission has stated that about 33 million Americans are negatively impacted by standard household products every single year. This number refers to deaths, injuries, and property damage, which makes them pretty scary! According to scientists, the toxic chemicals present in these products are what make them so hazardous. To prevent anything bad from happening in your household, we bring you this list of dangerous everyday toxic products that you should stop using right now.

8. Styrofoam products

It’s not news that Styrofoam takeout containers are no good for the environment, but did you know that they can be pretty harmful to your health as well? Styrofoam contains a toxic chemical by the name of styrene, which has been linked to several health problems, like hearing and vision loss, damage to the nervous system, and cancer development. Styrene can reach out and get into your body every time you drink hot beverages from a Styrofoam cup or eat hot food from a Styrofoam plate.

7. Pressed wood products

Pressed wood is usually glued with a type of resin, which generally contains urea-formaldehyde. It could all be pretty harmless, but this resin will emit formaldehyde into your room, which can be the root of all sorts of breathing problems and other issues of the respiratory system, like asthma, cancer, or lung disease. High levels of humidity inside your home will lead to higher levels of formaldehyde being released, so you should be careful when choosing your furniture.  [ads shortcode=”td_responsive”]

6. Antibacterial soap

We mentioned antibacterial soap, but in reality, this is valid for any antibacterial product. Triclosan is used in the production of antibacterial products, such as toothpaste, cosmetic products, and even shampoos. But research conducted on rats has shown that it might lead to the development of serious health conditions, such as cancer. However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has banned the use of triclosan in the production of body washes and soap since 2016. Just read the labels anyways.

5. Mosquito coil

The Mosquito coil is quite a great invention – it’s the best way to spend an afternoon out in the open without having to worry about those annoying buzzing creatures. But unfortunately, we have some pretty bad news. Scientists have stated that the smoke released by the mosquito coil while burning is an equivalent amount of smoke released by 75-137 cigarettes. Being exposed to these levels of smoke can lead to serious lung conditions in both humans and animals.
