#6 – Anchovies

Frozen, raw, or canned, anchovies are available all year-around. They are packed with high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids and healthy unsaturated fats. The latter nutrients are effective in preventing inflammation and cardiovascular diseases.

That’s in addition to being a good source of magnesium, calcium, and essential minerals, which in return regulate your blood pressure and circulation. Moreover, anchovies are high in omega-3 fatty acids and low in mercury levels where only four ounces of this fish deliver about 148 calories.

However, it is still recommended by the Seafood Watch to limit your choice to anchovies caught off from the Adriatic Sea. There, the fishing practices are more sustainable and less likely to mistakenly catch marine mammals.
