There is always a 50/50 chance in the farming industry of having a good harvest each year, especially in India. For many challenges, Indian farmers commit suicide and it is strangely getting higher every month (1.000 farmers per month).

The GM companies make it harder by increasing the prices which leads the farmer to borrow money. And when it all fails, the crushed farmers commit suicide.

The New York Times states that the rate of suicide among farmers has increased to over 125.000 suicides since the introduction of GM in India, adding that the high prices of seeds and the legal requirement of buying them are causing farmers to make less money than ever.
