The appellation of this pose sounds a bit funny, but it is effective in relaxing. It is also called Marjaryasana and Bitilasana. This exercise is a breath-synchronized movement, which means that while you perform the pose, you are supposed to breathe in and out simultaneously.

In the course of performing this yoga posture, your vital organs, namely kidneys and adrenal glands, will be stimulated. Your spine will also get its share of strength and stretching. Cow and Cat pose might have a very queer name, but it will make you feel mentally and psychologically balanced again.

Plus, you will get rid of stress, anxiety and calm your mind. You need to put your body in a table pose to straighten your back. Put your hands and knees on the ground or the mat. Raise your tailbone and keep inhaling.

Make sure your shoulder blades are stable. Next, press your chest and belly forward to the floor. Keep your head lifted up. Once you exhale, switch to the cat pose.

Bring your chin down to your chest by releasing your head toward the floor. Release your buttocks from the pressure and repeat the exercise with the inhalation and exhalation for 5 or 6 times.

It is also known as the Shavasana pose, used as a yoga practice following each yoga session. The pose allows you to put your mind, body and soul on the silent mode to take a break in isolation from what is around you. This will perfectly reduce stress, anxiety and raise your spirit.

For pregnant women in their third trimester, performing this pose is not advisable. The corpse pose does not have to be performed at the end of a yoga session, as it may be also used as a warm-up practice before a yoga sequence.

What you need to do is basically lying on your back, clearing your mind from any thoughts and closing your eyes, but make sure you do not fall asleep. Such a pose does not require any stretching nor bending. All you have to do is relaxing.
