#2 – The Leather Recliner
You may want to think twice before getting a nice leather recliner. Although leather gives an impression of luxury, it may give you cancer as well. Tanned leather, wood furniture, cement, and some pigments and dyes used in textiles all contain a known cancer-causing element called Chromium (VI).
To give you an idea of the frequency of this carcinogen, a Denmark study revealed that nearly 50% of imported leather sandals and shoes included a certain amount of chromium VI. You need to pay close attention to labels before purchasing leather stuff, and don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as necessary when shopping for new furniture.
