#4 – Closets
Your freshly cleaned clothes are likely the last thing you may think can cause any damage whatsoever to your health, but unfortunately, it does. Specifically, perchloroethylene (or simply “perc”), the dry-cleaning chemical, is a carcinogen that can accumulate in closets or anywhere you store dry-cleaned clothes.
Moreover, this cancer-causing chemical can also be found in wood cleaners, shoe polish, and spot removers. If you usually dry-clean your clothes, you should better look for a dry-cleaner who doesn’t use perchloroethylene. Also, never forget your gloves when cleaning wood or polishing shoes.
