Scientists are still not sure when it comes to the low-carb diets and their effects on our health.
According to a 2014 study in PLOS ONE, when we increase our refined carb intake, then the production of palmitoleic acid in the body increases as well, which is the host of some serious health issues like diabetes and high cholesterol.

In general, a ketogenic diet could help you lose weight and give you great results when it comes to your shape, but if we looked at the statistics, we will find that this diet increases your chances of coronary heart disease and cancer drastically.

In research, they have compared participants who have high and low carbohydrate consumption, and they found out that those who don’t take enough carbs have higher chances of developing coronary heart disease (51%), cerebrovascular disease (50%), and cancer (35%).

In conclusion, you should be aware of all side effects that could come from following this diet, and remember that our bodies need those carbs to turn them into fuel constantly. You have to check with your doctor first, and never eliminate your intake of fruits and vegetables.

Stay safe!
