#6 – Pickled, Salted, and Smoked Foods
These types of products usually contain preservatives, including nitrates, which are used to prolong shelf life. The additives and toxins included in processed foods can build up inside your body over time to eventually cause cell damage, leading to serious diseases including cancer.
Moreover, the extremely harmful part is when you cook smoked foods at high temperatures because the nitrates then convert to the so much more dangerous nitrites. Also, it should be noted that your homemade fermented foods don’t count as pickled foods.
