#6 – Heartburn and Avocadoes, Nuts, Cheese
and a Juicy Rib Eye
What do these different foods have in common? High-fat content! In fact, these foods may not have as much impact as acidic foods when it comes to heartburn, but they can be primary triggers.
Here’s why: Fat slows down the emptying of the stomach, so there is more opportunity for a large distended tummy. This eventually increases pressure on the esophageal sphincter, which triggers heartburn.
That doesn’t mean you can never eat those foods again. But rather try not to have a cheese plate after a meal and eat it earlier in the day when you are not already full.
