It is known to have so many cravings during pregnancy, which is a good thing since now you can eat as much as you can without worrying too much about your weight. But, there are some foods that must be avoided completely for the sake of the baby’s health. You can always eat foods that are high in lean protein, healthy fats, lots of vegetables and fruits, and of course water!

Here is a list of foods you need to avoid:

Deli Meat: it has bacteria (Listeria) that passes through the placenta and may infect the baby. It could lead to a blood infection that could be very dangerous to your developing baby.
Raw eggs: This includes foods that are made with raw eggs such as mayonnaise, Hollandaise sauce, homemade Caesar dressings, and certain custards.
Soft cheese: Like the Deli meat, soft cheese contains the same bacteria that may infect your baby. So, avoid Roquefort, Gorgonzola, Camembert, Brie, and feta. Unless they were made from pasteurized milk. In fact, it’s better to avoid any unpasteurized dairy.
Raw meat and shellfish: Any uncooked seafood, like Sushi (unfortunately!), oysters, clams, and mussels. Plus, it is rare but in case you found uncooked beef or poultry, avoid them completely.
Fish with high levels of mercury: that includes sharks, swordfish, tilefish, and king mackerel. Also, any canned, chunk tuna should be consumed in moderate levels even if it has low levels of mercury. Also, avoid any smoked seafood!
