When you keep eating more protein, you also ingest nitrogen byproducts! The latter is very difficult for your kidneys to filter out of your blood. Normally, the nitrogen leaves your body through urine when you’re eating a normal amount of protein.
However, when you start eating more and more protein for the sake of the immense muscles, you make your kidneys work harder than they normally should to eliminate the extra nitrogen, which might lead to kidney damage over time.
