Bloody urine, or gross hematuria, is an obvious sign of UTI that happens when the infection hits any part of the urinary system—bladder, kidneys, urethra, ureters—causing inflammation and bleeding of cells which leads urine to appear pink or reddish.
Bleeding during urination can also be a serious symptom of an enlarged prostate, kidney cancer or bladder cancer. The other type of hematuria is called microscopic hematuria in which you can’t see blood in your urine yet it’s seen under a microscope.
Again, see a specialist if you experience such symptoms.
