4. Cold-pressed oils

Cold-pressed oils such as olive oil, flaxseed oil, and so many others are rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which have a lot of benefits to our health, but not when re-heated. Food that contains these types of oils shouldn’t be heated or reheated since it causes the oils to become rancid, which is the same as spoiled; therefore, not safe to consume. A good way to check if your oil is not spoiled is to see if the oil feels sticky or not. If it is, you must throw it away.

5. Spinach

Spinach is one of the principal vegetables that should be a part of every healthy diet. Besides being filled with antioxidants and nutrients, it’s also super low in calories. However, spinach should only be served and consumed right after it’s cooked. Besides that, spinach the best fresh food to serve raw, so heating it is a big no, it cancels all the health benefits, but that’s not even the worse part. As you may know, spinach is high on nitrates, and heating it can make them turn into carcinogenic nitrosamines that are dangerous to one’s health. The same goes for other vegetables like carrots, turnip, and celery.

6. Chicken

Similar to eggs, chicken can contain salmonella as well. So when left in low temperatures, the bacteria will, of course, multiply. When it comes to chicken, if you’re looking for healthy cooked meat, you should always heat it above 165 degrees. Also, avoid using your microwave for this, it’s not as efficient or healthy as other methods are. After you eat your chicken, you should only reheat it once more, or if you end up with cold chicken, you can use it to make a salad!

7. Breast milk

This might be one of the last things you expected to see on this list, but it’s important that all mothers out there know that warming breast milk is not the best thing to do for your baby. Breast milk can be frozen or refrigerated once your baby is fed, but you should never leave it in the baby bottle. When your baby is drinking the milk, the bacteria present on the baby’s saliva ends up on the milk, which is the perfect breeding ground for even more bacteria, which will kill all the amazing benefits breast milk as to offer to your child. So what can you do? Whenever you’re pumping your milk, place it in a big jar on the fridge. Then, heat small amounts of milk in the baby bottle before feeding your baby. If there’s any milk left on the bottle, don’t store it or warm it up again!
