#1 – Hemoglobin A1c Test
The A1c is a simple blood test (doctors may call it ‘glycosylated hemoglobin’ though) that is done on a blood sample taken from a finger-stick or from a little vial of it drawn from your arm.
This is not to be confused with the daily at-home monitoring that allows some diabetics to measure their blood sugars instantly, the A1c test actually paints a picture of your blood sugar level on average for the previous 3 months.
If you can maintain a hemoglobin A1c range of nearly 7% or less, you’ll significantly reduce your risk of having complications in your eyes, nerves, and kidneys. And remember to follow your doctor’s instructions.
