Your hands touch all sorts of different surfaces. Throughout the day, they collect and hoard germs and bacteria. That is completely normal and not much cause for alarm, assuming you have proper hand hygiene – the simple act of handwashing can prevent a series of infections and other diseases. As a consequence of technological innovation and the modern lifestyle, one of those surfaces your hands are in constant touch with is your smartphone. That causes the germs on your hands to pass into the surface of your smartphone – both the screen and the phone case. This, in itself, is no great threat to your health, but under the right circumstances, these bacteria and germs on your phone may find a vulnerability in your organism and take advantage of it. Thirty seconds of soap and water will eliminate much of the bacteria in your hands. But what about those on your smartphone? In this article, we will give you 6 tips to help you keep your phone clean.

1. Microfiber cloth

When it comes to keeping your phone screen clean, microfiber cloths are the simplest and most effective solution. Furthermore, they are extremely cheap and are sold in packs, which makes it possible to have one in every corner of your house and one inside your everyday bag for easy access all the time. Microfiber cloths are made of very thin fibers that can easily trap dirt. Wipe your screen very gently, alternating between horizontal and vertical movements. If you add a tiny bit of water and soap, it will wash away the majority of germs and keep it relatively safe. Unless you have a waterproof smartphone, you need to turn off your phone and be extremely careful with the amount of water you use. Also, don’t forget to use a dry cloth to absorb the excess of water and let it dry completely before turning it back on. Every once in a while, you will need to wash your dirty microfiber cloths. These are very delicate fibers, so don’t wash them with the rest of your laundry – they will be clean, yes, but it will make them spoil and cease to be effective very quickly. Fortunately, their cleaning process is pretty straightforward: simply soak them in a mixture of warm water and soap, rinse, and leave them to dry. They will be good as new.
