6. Always sit in the back

It’s already hard enough to keep some social distancing between you and your driver when you sit in the back, but it’s pretty much impossible if you choose the front seat. There aren’t many people who prefer to sit side by side with their driver, but just in case you are one of those few people, we are here to tell you… please don’t. Not only because it’s the best way to ensure the safety of both you and your Uber driver, but also because Uber actually requires that their passengers sit in the back as part of their pandemic safety precautions.

5. Make sure your Uber driver is also wearing a mask

During these troubled times, it’s important that we look out for each other. The fact that you are wearing a mask will keep your Uber driver safe, but to ensure your safety, they need to be wearing a mask as well. While Uber is doing everything in their power to make sure that their drivers are following all the safety procedures to prevent the spread of the virus, it’s always best if you check for yourself. 4. Keep your belongings to yourself

Under normal circumstances, it would be ok to land your phone to your driver to help them with directions, but we need to be reminded that we are going through a global health crisis. Right now, you should try to avoid touching as many surfaces as possible, and keep your belongings stored in your bag to avoid contamination. Anyway, you should always carry hand sanitizer with you to disinfect your hands, cellphone, and other belongings that you use regularly.

3. Open the car windows if you have to

Your Uber driver has probably been informed that keeping the car well ventilated is one of the best ways to maintain certain levels of safety for all the passengers in the car. However, if you get into an Uber with all the windows closed, do not hesitate to open them. Keeping the air circulating is the safest alternative. As long as it’s not raining, this should be a standard procedure.
