4. How to test your lungs at home without equipment

It seems impossible to test your respiratory system at home without having the appropriate equipment, but in reality, all you need is a match. Light up a match and hold it while stretching your hand in front of you. Inhale (nose) and exhale (mouth) while trying to blow the flame. How many times it took you to blow the flame out? If your answer is “more than a few times”, then you should get that respiratory system checked. Smoking, chronic illness of the airways, and a lack of physical activity can be some of the reasons behind this issue.

3. How to check for fluid retention

Fluid retention is a pretty common issue for people who pay no mind to their diet. The best way to figure out if this problem affects you is by pressing down on your foot’s sole using your thumb. If the hollow left by your thumb is still on your foot after a few seconds, you might be suffering from fluid retention. Avoiding processed foods and reducing the amount of salt you add to your dishes might help with this issue.  [ads shortcode=”td_responsive”]

2. How to check your thyroid at home

For this one, you will need some assistance. With your eyes closed, stretch your arms forward. Then, stretch your fingers in the same way too and have someone put a regular piece of paper on your hands. If your fingers and the piece of paper start to tremble, maybe it’s time to get checked by an endocrinologist.

1. Checking your health through your eyes

Take five steps back, away from your computer monitor, and cover one of your eyes. Then look at the circle we present above. Do some of these lines appear to be darker than others? If so, there is a possibility you may be starting to develop astigmatism. On the other hand, if you can’t see a number on this picture, you should be checked by an optician just in case you have developed myopia.  Keep in mind that while these tests can be a warning sign that gets you to go see a doctor, they should not replace a proper diagnosis. In fact, these signs can indicate a wide variety of illnesses. However, if you keep getting stressed about recurrent symptoms, don’t waste any more time and go see your doctor for a detailed examination.
