Do you experience Deja Vu regularly? Have you ever wondered why it may happen and what it truly means? If so, don’t worry, we have all the answers right here. Let’s begin with the basic: What is deja vu?  Deja Vu is a feeling that we humans have whenever we go through an experience that seems familiar, like it already happened before but you can’t quite remember when or how.  Sometimes it can be a certain moment, a sentence, or an image. At least 60% of people experience Deja Vu currently, but what are the real causes of deja vu? Some people believe it’s a sign of a parallel universe or that we’re in a simulation, but the truth is, most times, a Deja Vu happens because our body and brain are giving us signals that something is very right or very wrong.  So why does deja vu happen? Stick around to find out.

5. A sign of stress and anxiety

It has been proven by a lot of scientists worldwide that a Deja Vu may occur in stressful moments or whenever you’re very tired.  When you’re not thinking straight and have a lot on your mind, it’s normal that little occurrences may feel like a Deja Vu to you because your brain is not functioning properly. After all, when we’re under a lot of stress, our attention diminishes so we may think we’ve been through a situation when in reality, we haven’t.  This tends to happen when we’re in a hurry in the morning or after a long day at work when driving home.  A simple sentence of “See you later” while you’re grabbing your keys or a song playing on the radio while you turn on the car to leave work. These can all feel like a Deja Vu, but in reality, saying See you later while grabbing the keys may be something you do every day unconsciously, and the song playing on the radio may just be a coincidence, or maybe you’re confusing it with another song with a similar tone to it.

4. A sign of memory loss

Do you know that whenever you dream about someone random, it’s because you’ve met that person in real life but you don’t remember it? You could have met them when you’re a kid, or last month when you were walking down the street. Our brain memorizes faces without us realizing it, and when you dream, those faces are the ones that tend to appear. A similar thing happens when having a Deja Vu. We don’t recall our memories properly, therefore, a Deja Vu may feel like you’ve been through that experience before, but most of the time, you just think you did because you don’t recall that memory properly.  This all has to do with our struggle to recall truthful memories that happened in our lives. Most of the time, a situation resembles an experience, but it is never the same.
