According to many researchers, rice is among those food items that can last for a very long time. This means if it is stored in oxygen-free plastic containers or glass jars in temperatures below 4.5° C, the rice can surprisingly maintain its valuable nutrients and flavor for more than 30 years.
However, brown rice can last no more than six months because of the natural oils found in its bran layer.
