When we think of skin cancer we don’t consider the possibility of having skin cancer under fingernail. The fact is that there are some nail cancer symptoms that you can’t ignore: especially if a brown vertical stripe appears in the skin.

This mark can actually be the sign of melanoma — cancer in the skin. Of course, this is a rare occasion — numbers show that only one percent of melanomas are in the nail for Caucasians.

However, it’s not that rare with African-Americans — almost 20 percent of melanomas start there. It’s time to pay more attention to your nails.
