With that being said, if your city is using a dual-stream or multi-stream recycling method, then crushing aluminum cans becomes beneficial for recycling.

The reason is multi-stream means you are separating all of your recyclables, which means all of the cans go together, preventing them from contaminating other products. So if you get to separate the glass, paper, cans, and plastic, then feel free to crush them and enjoy that process!

Go to the aluminum can recycling near you and notice if it is one-stream or not (you should already know by now), and then decide whether you should crush your cans or not!
