First things first, let’s state the tricky difference between sleep deprivation and insomnia:
Sleep deprivation is marked by the poor quality of sleep, in terms of the number of hours you sleep and whether your sleep gets interrupted by some external factors, whereas, insomnia is a sleep disorder that is either chronic or acute.
Respiratory diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that causes shortness of breathe or coughing can give you a hard time falling asleep, disrupt your sleep cycle, and keep you up at night which may turn into chronic insomnia.
This, in turn, leads to fatigue and sleepiness during the day.
You already know what to do: make time for a doctor’s visit and get your lungs checked!
