Contrary to the popular belief, the eyes don’t get red because of the high levels of chlorine in the pool water rather because of the pool chemicals that have mixed with urine, sweat, and dirt explained Chris Wiant, Chair of the Water Quality and Health.
It is very important to maintain good levels of chlorine in the water in order to get rid of all the germs and bacteria. However, if the ‘’Chlorine smell’’ get really strong, then, it could possibly mean that the pool chemistry is off and need to be adjusted and looked at.
Swimmer’s ear is an infection that the swimmer can get after swimming. The latter painful infection occurs due to the pool and water bacteria that get trapped in the ear canal and result in painful and annoying symptoms such as redness, itchiness, swelling, and pain.
Hence, the easiest way to avoid this painful experience and keep your ear safe is by using earplugs to keep your ears blocked or carefully wipe the moisture away after swimming.
