2. A healthy body equals a healthy mind

Whenever we eat something that’s not only yummy but also healthy, we tend to feel better after. Our mood increases, we feel lighter and filled with energy.  This happens because of all the nutrients that are present in the food you’re eating or just ate. Yogurts, fruit, and vegetables are just some examples of healthy food that can do wonders for your physical and mental health.  This makes yogurt a great snack to take with you wherever you go. Feeling tired? Drink yogurt. Leaving the house without having breakfast? Drink yogurt on your way to work. Are you craving chocolate? Why not mix it with your yogurt?  Make sure you’re eating yogurt once a day and you’ll see how both your mental and physical health will improve.

1. Your blood sugar levels can spike

Even though we’re only talking about the benefits of yogurt, it is still our job to alert you about some consequences that might come with the consumption of yogurt and the sugar addiction that can be related to it.  How many times have you tried a new yogurt and decided it was too bitter so you just added some sugar to it? How often did you repeat this process? How many times are you trying to pick yogurt to buy at the grocery store and you’re immediately attracted to the thicker, flavored ones?  If you relate to any of these questions it’s because you’re not making the best choices when it comes to maintaining a healthy level of blood sugar. Most flavored yogurts have fourteen grams of sugar per bottle or even more. If you’re a woman, the American Heart Association doesn’t recommend your intake of sugar to be anything higher than 25 grams per day, so if you drink two yogurts per day, you’re already exceeding the advisable sugar amount.  For men, daily sugar consumption shouldn’t be more than 37 grams. High blood sugar levels or blood glucose may lead to hyperglycemia, which can cause serious problems such as kidney failure, heart disease, and many others. Try to avoid adding sugar to your yogurt or other meals. The sugar that’s already present in fruits, for example, doesn’t count as added sugar or unhealthy sugar because it’s part of healthy food.  Plain Greek yogurt or other “sugar-free” yogurts are the best way to go. If you want to make it sweeter, consider adding a little bit of cinnamon or vanilla to your yogurt.
