We know that this sounds scary, well, because it is! When you are sleep parallelized, feel tied up to your bed, cannot breathe in and out easily as if a rock is on your chest and experience hallucinations, you start feeling that an alive being is in the room with you.
We have said that your brain remains awake when experiencing sleep paralysis. So it is quite vigilant and goes as far as activating the protective sense, trying to make you think that a stranger is trying to break into your room through the window. Note that this is a part of the sleep visual hallucinations you are having.
