#5 – Unsustainable Agricultural Practices

Unsustainable Agricultural Practices© EJ Insight

Agricultural production causes a massive discharge of greenhouse gas (methane), promoting climate change. Sadly, intensive farming methods poison the rivers and streams and may end up creating dead zones. Moreover, forests are taken down to get more lands for farming and boost agricultural production, which is wildly and increasingly damaging our beautiful nature.

Every year, hectares of lands become unusable due to poor agricultural practices, with an additional 0.3 – 0.5 million becoming unproductive. To fix these problems, agriculture can be replaced to degraded places instead of clearing new lands with an urge to opt for healthier methods and practices that will boost productivity and protect our health, nature, and food.
