Alcohol interrupts your immune system because it messes with the ability of your body to generate infection-fighting white blood cells.
This can increase your risk of catching a cold or viruses in the short term, while in the long run, heavy drinking can suppress your immune system to the point it becomes more susceptible to severe infectious diseases, like pneumonia and even TB (tuberculosis).
