A back pain is one of the most uncomfortable and disturbing types of pain and not maintaining a healthy and correct sleeping posture can make this pain go even worse. Hence, it is extremely important to maintain the normal and natural curves of your spine. This means if your mattress is no longer serving this purpose, you’d better get rid of it and get yourself a new one.

In this case, sleeping on your back is still the best sleeping position for you. To help you relax, even more, we suggest that you put a pillow under your knees in order to help your spine maintain its natural curves and also help reduce the tensions that you might be experiencing at the level of your tendons. For additional support, you can also place a rolled towel under your lower back!

However, if you sleep on your stomach, try to sleep placing a pillow under the lower part of your abdomen and pelvis. This will help the small of your back remain in its position and will also prevent it from moving forward.

As for those who like to sleep on their sides, you’d better start sleeping using the fetal position. So, you can slightly draw your legs to your chest while you keep your back naturally arched. For additional comfort, you can consider placing a small pillow between your knees.
