Jennifer Palmer has a doctorate of naturopathy and owner of a wellness center, and she explains how essential oils are effective when it comes to a toothache. In fact, she said that they can do much more things than numbing it.

Tea tree essential oil or clove essential oil can minimize some pain when used on a cotton swab. Once the clove oil contacts the dental nerve, it will numb it immediately and provide temporary relief, which is a great solution if you have to wait hours for your dentist’s appointment.

However, if you are pregnant, nursing, or on prescription/OTC meds, then you have to contact your health care provider first before using the oils.

Moving on, the clove oil is mostly available at pharmacies and health food stores. Just mix a few drops with a teaspoon of carrier oil (olive or coconut oil), soak a cotton ball in the mixture, and then rub it over the source of your pain.
