#1 – Your Large, Comfortable Couch
Couch potatoes must worry! It turned out that your sofa has many ways to kill you. Not only it seduces you into becoming lethargic, but it can also give you cancer, seriously! Many cushioned furniture (mattresses, sofas, etc.) are treated with a common flame retardant called TDCIPP that is also a known carcinogen.
This fire retardant was used too often that the blood of everyone tested contained TDCIPP, as showed a study from Duke University. What’s more, TDCIPP is one of the top chemicals that are usually found in household dust, which can be particularly dangerous for children.
To stay safe, always check labels on furniture and consider replacing any sofas or mattresses you bought before 2013 (when the carcinogen was used heavily).
