It is no secret that China is the world’s driving exporter of food products. This country is using innovative methods and techniques to bring these products to global markets as rapidly and cheaply as possible. Not surprisingly, many foods suffer the consequences, and of course, come at a cost.
According to the World Trade Organization (WTO), in 2015, China accounted for 14% of worldwide exports, ahead of the United States 9% and Germany 8%. Food & Water Watch, a non-profit organization, reported that 70% of apple juice consumed by Americans comes from China.
